Discover Sawadee Sam Sek

If you find yourself in Hat Yai, Thailand, looking for a place that offers delicious Thai dishes with a welcoming atmosphere, Sawadee Sam Sek is a must-visit. Located at XFWH+63C, Thung Sao 2 Soi 5 Rd, Tambon Hat Yai, Hat Yai District, Songkhla 90110, Thailand, this cozy eatery has gained a loyal following for its mouthwatering menu and outstanding service.

Upon entering, you're immediately greeted with the inviting aroma of traditional Thai spices and the warm smiles of the staff. Whether you're here for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner, the experience is always top-notch. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, perfect for both solo diners and groups. One of the highlights is their open kitchen concept, allowing guests to watch the chefs skillfully prepare dishes that are as visually appealing as they are tasty.

Sawadee Sam Sek offers a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes, but they are particularly known for their seafood offerings. A local favorite is their spicy and tangy Tom Yum Goong, a traditional Thai hot and sour shrimp soup. The broth is rich, perfectly balanced with the right amount of spice, and filled with fresh shrimp, mushrooms, and herbs. It's a dish that packs a punch and will leave you craving more.

Another standout on the menu is the Pad Thai, which is served with a generous portion of stir-fried noodles, eggs, tofu, and peanuts. The sweet-salty sauce that coats each bite gives it that authentic Thai flavor, and the optional addition of chicken, shrimp, or tofu makes it a flexible dish for all preferences. The balance of textures-from the crunchy peanuts to the soft noodles-makes this dish irresistible.

For those looking for something a little different, the restaurant also serves an excellent Massaman curry. With its mild heat and sweet flavor, the curry is rich in coconut milk and contains tender chunks of meat, making it a comforting dish for anyone looking for a hearty meal.

What sets Sawadee Sam Sek apart is the attention to detail in every dish. The chefs don't just focus on flavor-they ensure that each plate looks as good as it tastes. It's evident that freshness is a priority, as the vegetables are crisp, the seafood is always fresh, and the herbs are vibrant, making every bite a celebration of Thai cuisine.

One of the best aspects of dining here is the variety of options on the menu. Whether you're in the mood for something spicy, savory, or sweet, you'll find something that hits the spot. The restaurant also offers a selection of desserts, including mango sticky rice, a classic Thai treat that pairs perfectly with the meal. The sticky rice is sweetened with coconut milk and served with ripe mango slices, creating the perfect end to a delicious meal.

The staff at Sawadee Sam Sek are incredibly friendly and attentive. They are more than happy to recommend dishes if you're unfamiliar with Thai cuisine, ensuring that your experience is personalized. They also take the time to explain the ingredients and the history behind certain dishes, which adds an educational aspect to the dining experience.

For anyone visiting the area, Sawadee Sam Sek is located in a convenient spot for both tourists and locals. It's close to several popular attractions in Hat Yai, making it an ideal choice for a meal after a day of sightseeing. Whether you're staying in the area or just passing through, this restaurant provides an authentic Thai dining experience that is both memorable and affordable.

If you're looking for a place to indulge in genuine Thai flavors, this restaurant stands out not just for the food but for the warmth of its atmosphere. The combination of exceptional service, mouthwatering dishes, and a cozy setting makes Sawadee Sam Sek a restaurant worth visiting again and again.

  • An unassuming corner eatery on its own. I gave it a miss on my first pass by on way back to my hotel. Decided to just gave it a try on my 2nd night, since most nearby eateries were closed, and I was please with my decision. Decent food, friendly service stuffs, and nice quiet ambience. Tables and chairs are custom made using good solid wood nailed onto mild steel pipe supports. I ordered seafood fried rice and pork basil rice, added on a coconut drink nails the nice evening. Gave it a try if you are near the neighborhood. Closes at 10pm (Tuesday when I was there) not as stated 11.30pm so take note. Not sure on other days.

  • Atmosphere being a nice open air restaurant, we stopped here for a late lunch. A bottle of Coke, Deep Fried Ruby Fish, Som Tam & a couple sticky rice. Interesting garnish on top consists of Thai Herbs including battered & deep fried lemon grass, garlic, peppercorns & lime leaves.. Very tasty indeed. It was all very tasty, service is great & we're already planning our return next time we're in Hatyai.

  • I stumbled into this place a few months ago...brought my buddies and Returned to enjoy the food again. The young lady server is very attentive and patient. Fair value pricing. Honest people too. Eg The fish was menu priced at B250.. But she came to tell us that it's a very big fish and if it was OK if the price is now B300... Of course krub! we love the honesty and v transparency. No 2tier pricing like many other restaurants, with food pictures viralled by blur sotong m'sian tourists.

  • Thai dishes are sweet, salty, spicy or sour. There are many dishes with thick noodles, vegetables, lettuce, and chicken, lamb, shrimp, or beef. Some dishes are more rice geared or contain fruits such as pineapple or papaya. It all depends on what part region of Thailand you're on. Almost every Thai dish combines all four tastes. Thai cuisine lays a lot of importance to fresh fruits and vegetables which is very much evident in their curries and every desserts that come loaded with fruits. Pungent fresh herbs, such as lemongrass and galangal, tone down overpowering spices, while salty sauces are tempered with sugars and offset by acids, such as lemon and lime.

  • Folks here are friendly and they have English menu with pictures for all their dishes. I tried the stir fry seafood with rice and fried egg (70b). Taste really good and really spicy. Very appetizing. Will love to try their stir fried dishes with my friends the next time. Came on Fri at 6pm, not crowded. Came again, the Thai Basil Pork Rice (70b) is good too. Asked for less spicy this time. They also serve Thai Basil beef. had the seafood fried rice (60b) and grilled pork neck (100b). The fried rice is tasty but a bit too salty for me. Grilled pork neck is tender and good with the sauce.
